Pickleball continues to grow across Southland Murihiku, and now there is another weekly opportunity to play in the town of Winton.
While small towns don’t always have many regular sporting activities, Winton is punching well above its weight. Local enthusiasts Richie and Steve are running a casual social pickleball drop-in session every Thursday evening, giving players another great opportunity to get on court.
It seems like Thursday is becoming the unofficial pickleball day in Southland!
Central Southland Netball Centre
37 John Street
Winton
Every Thursday evening
6:30pm – 8:00pm
Running until 2 April 2026
These sessions are designed to be casual and welcoming, so players of all skill levels are encouraged to come along. Whether you are brand new to pickleball or already playing regularly, you’ll find friendly games and a relaxed environment.
Richie and Steve are not only skilled across multiple sports, they were also among the early adopters of pickleball in Southland, helping introduce the sport to new players across the region.
Southern Slammers is an independent and informal group that promotes all pickleball sessions available across Southland Murihiku.
