Something new is happening in Southland Murihiku, and we think you're going to like it.
The Southern Slammers are hosting Quick & Dirty #1, our very first dedicated pickleball tournament, right here in Invercargill. Whether you're a seasoned player or still finding your feet on the court, there's a spot for you.
📅 When: Sunday, 24 May 2026 | 10:00am – 3:00pm
📍 Where: ILT Stadium Southland – The Velodrome, Courts 10 & 11 (hardcourts)
We've kept things simple with two categories, so you can play at whatever level feels right:
Competitive – For anyone who knows the game (3.0 DUPR or above). That said, if you feel ready to step up, you're always welcome to "play up" even if your DUPR is lower, or if you don't have one yet. Just flick us an email and we'll sort it out.
Casual / Social – If you're newer to the game (below 3.0 or no DUPR), this is your category. Come as you are.

This is doubles, but with a twist: your partner can be any gender or age. No restrictions, no complications.
As for the games themselves: welcome to the All-Sorts experience as well 🙂. Some games timed, some to 11, some to 15 or even other! It keeps things interesting.
Here's how the day runs:
Ball: Franklin X-40 outdoor ball
Rules: Official USAPA rules, with one small change to the serving rule that will be explained in a video and on the day. The Casual category also has a no-body-shots option for anyone who'd prefer it.
Pay simply via bank transfer.
